5.8 Million Euros Waste to Energy pilot project Kick-off

A kick-off meeting for a 400 KW Hybrid waste to energy pilot project has been held in Accra.
The four-year pilot project, which is being funded by the German Government through the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany (BMBF), will be sited at Gyankobaa, Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng said the hybrid waste to energy facility has the prospects of generating direct and indirect employment through its value chain.
He said the project will serve as a blueprint for future waste to energy projects as well as provide business models for the establishment of 10 additional facilities of larger capacities for the treatment of solid waste in the country.
