2018 Trained Teachers Biometric Registration Resumes April 21st – All the details here
2018 trained teachers biometric registration resumes April 21st. This is based on news reaching Newsghana24.com The information available is that the Ministry of Finance will resume the Biometric Registration exercise on Tuesday, 21st April 2020 for the 2018 trained teachers leading to the payment of their Salary arrears.
The 2018 trained teachers have for the past weeks expressed their dissatisfaction through several media platforms over what they describe as total neglect and cruel treatments meted out to them over government’s inability to pay them their salaries. They describe themselves as an unfortunate year group that had to go through tight government policies before been posted to their permanent stations.

Our checks at the Ministry of Finance revealed that the biometric registration started before the lockdown. Unfortunately, not everyone was able to do it before the lockdown was declared due to the COVID – 19. Officers from the Finance Ministry had to return to Accra due to the emergence of the novel coronavirus.
The timetable for the exercise is expected to be released on Monday, 20th April 2020.
Our checks also indicate that about 5600 newly trained teachers were recruited recently by the Ghana Education Service. These new recruits are also expected to join the exercise.
Considering the crucial role that GNAT has played in the earlier Biometric Registrations by providing their Regional Secretariats to assist the Ministry of Finance officials to undertake the exercise, the News Desk contacted Mr. Isaac Nii Baah with the Salaries and Conditions of Service Unit at GNAT Headquarters to seek his concerns on the latest development regarding payment of salaries to the newly recruited teachers.
He stated that “GNAT is very much concerned about the delay in payment of salaries to the 2018 trained teachers. We have been working closely with officials at the Ministry of Finance to see the best way of resolving this issue. Myself and other colleagues here at GNAT have been with officials from the Ministry of Finance at the earlier centres for the biometric registration exercise before the lockdown was declared as a result of the COVID – 19. We are hoping that in the coming days and weeks, we will visit other Regions to undertake the exercise for onward payment of salaries to the newly recruited teachers”.
Mr. Isaac Nii Baah further added that “I wish to urge all newly recruited teachers to remain calm. Their salaries have already been budgeted for already. All left is for them to go through the needed verification and validation processes to get paid”.
