Who is Top of the Premier League's All-time assist List?

Kevin De Bruyne of Man City has now tied with Cesc Fabregas for the second spot on the all-time assists list in the Premier League. Let’s find out who holds the record for the most assists in Premier League history.

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins leads the charts with 12. Four players are tied in second place with 10: Newcastle pair Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Pascal Gross of Brighton. De Bruyne has moved up to nine assists for the season in the league, despite missing half of the campaign after undergoing hamstring surgery.

What is the record for most Premier League assists in a season?

That record is shared by De Bruyne and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. De Bruyne amassed 20 assists in the 2019-20 season, equalling Henry’s tally from the 2002-03 campaign.

Belgian only trails Ryan Giggs: Who has the most assists in Premier League history?

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs is the top assist provider of all-time with 162 assists. Fabregas and De Bruyne trail him, while Wayne Rooney is fourth on 103 assists, which he accumulated for Everton and United. Frank Lampard is next on 102, his total coming with West Ham, Chelsea and City. Arsenal great Dennis Bergkamp is in sixth.

Man City playmaker has moved onto 111: Will Kevin De Bruyne break Ryan Giggs’ record?

De Bruyne is 51 assists behind Giggs and it all comes down to how much longer he wants to stay at City. The Belgian has one year left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, and he would have to extend that by at least two years if he is to catch Giggs. It looks unlikely given the uncertainty over his future at City and the club’s reluctance to offer long-term contracts to players over the age of 30. But if De Bruyne wants to make Premier League history, he has a good motive to extend his stay with the club.
