The Felix Faki Foundation awards educational support to 6 outstanding female pursuing STEM at KNUST
The Francis Faki Amanquah Foundation (FFAF) an international non-governmental organization (NGO) has awarded scholarship to six brilliant women in STEM reading Computer Science and Computer Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The scholarship presentation held at the KNUST marks the second time the foundation has extended support, following the five female students who benefited last year from the university.
Mrs. Mercy Bruce Amanquah, the foundation Chief Executive officer of the FFAF, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to growing access to STEM related careers for the women in Ghana. During the presentation she said “We are here today to present scholarship awards which will cover tuition, accommodation, stipends and laptops to six outstanding women reading computer science and computer engineering. The goal of this initiative is to inspire them to build careers that will help them to make a positive impact globally with their skills”.
She also said that apart from the financial assistance and laptops provided, the foundation will assign some mentors who will engage the scholars and motivate them during their journey on the programme.
The Pro Vice Chancellor at KNUST Professor David Asamoah acknowledged the scholarship foundation members and the Faculty of computer science and computer engineering. He also urged the scholars to do their best work so that the FFAF would continue their good works it has with international programmes office for others to also benefit.
The beneficiaries were very elated for such support from the FFAF and it’s going to allow them to study with a sound mind that will enable them to achieve their academic and professional goals. Christabel Benewah, one of the scholars said “We are very grateful for the appreciation of our hard work and academic excellence. This award is not just a recognition but a testament of the foundation’s commitment to supporting women to bridge gaps and excel in computer science”.
Fellow recipients including Ampem Kobi Afriyie, Delali Mina Torgah, Khadijah Ndaiya Kamil and Ikhlas Adeola Abdul Saltar also extended their gratitude to the FFAF foundation for providing them with such opportunity to pursue their education without any financial burden.
