Mortuary Workers set to go on strike over poor working conditions
The Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) has announced to embark on a nationwide strike starting this Thursday, September 26, 2024, citing poor working conditions and unresolved issues.
General Secretary Richard Kofi Jordan in a notice on Tuesday, September 17 emphasized that the government has not addressed key concerns of the association including inadequate personal protective equipments( PPEs) that renders workers susceptible to ailments.

The workers are also having an issue of unpaid salary arrears dating back to 2020, and their request for financial clearance to employ 500 additional workers has been ignored.
Again , they demand the payment of a COVID-19 bonus as promised by the President of the Republic which has not been settled .
In the statement, he highlighted the alarming rate of workers death and therefore not leave anyone behind.
He then urge members of the association to close all morgues and stay at home until the demands are met.
