Mauricio Pochettino Leaves Chelsea by Mutual Consent
Chelsea Football Club has announced that Mauricio Pochettino leaves his role as the club’s head coach by mutual consent.
The 52-year-old Argentinian, who had only been in the job for 11 months, guided the Blues to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League this season, with a youthful side that included many players under the age of 25.
Despite a season marked by struggles, Pochettino ended the campaign with five successive wins, securing European football for the club.
His departure comes after a meeting with the club’s sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, who expressed their gratitude to him for his service this season.
“We would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season,” said Stewart and Winstanley.
“He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career.”
Pochettino himself stated that he will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge anytime and wished him all the best in his future coaching career. “Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history. The club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come,” he said.
The Argentine coach’s departure has sent shockwaves through the football world, with many speculating about his future plans.

Pochettino’s assistant coaches, Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez, and Sebastiano Pochettino, have also departed the club.
Chelsea’s sporting directors praised Pochettino’s service, saying that he will always be welcome back to the club.
“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season.
He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career,” said Stewart and Winstanley.
The search for Pochettino’s replacement is already underway, with Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna, Leicester’s Enzo Maresca, Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness, and Girona head coach Michel among the potential candidates.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank is also reportedly in the running.
Pochettino’s departure has sparked debate about his ability to manage a top-six club like Chelsea.
Sky Sports’ chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol believes that history is repeating itself, with Pochettino’s departure coming after a difficult season.
“It’s a job that takes time,” Solhekol said. “Chelsea managers don’t get a lot of time and it seems like history is repeating itself under the new ownership.”
Pochettino himself revealed that he had dinner with Todd Boehly recently and that had gone well, but behind the scenes there has been some doubt. “Chelsea believe they are a Champions League club,” he said. “For a variety of reasons, they’ve not met that target.”
The news has also led to speculation about the future of Chelsea’s ownership group, with some wondering whether Todd Boehly’s involvement in the club will continue to shape its direction.
