Upper West Regional NPP Chairman, Dr. Saanbaye Basilide Kangbere, Passes Away
The Upper West Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Saanbaye Basilide Kangbere reportedly dead at his home in Adjringano in Accra on Friday, June 7, 2024.
The sad news was confirmed by Tanko Dauda Daniel, the Upper West Regional Secretary of the NPP, to ChannelOne News. However, the party is yet to receive official communication from the family.
Dr. Kangbere was 76 years old at the time of his demise and had been battling renal health issues for some time. His passing has sent shockwaves throughout the party, with many paying tribute to his dedicated service and leadership.
As the incumbent Upper West Regional Chairman of the NPP, Dr. Kangbere was re-elected in 2022 after a closely contested election. He polled 130 votes out of a total of 242 valid votes cast, defeating his main contender, Alhaji Mahama Toyina, by a slim margin.

In light of Dr. Kangbere’s passing, Mr. Adul-Rahman Aziz, the First Vice Chairman of the NPP in the Upper West Region, is expected to assume the role of Chairman of the NPP in the Upper West region.
Dr. Kangbere’s passing is a significant loss for the NPP and the people of the Upper West Region. He was a respected leader and a dedicated servant of the party. His legacy will be remembered for years to come.
