#BringBackGNBank Nationwide Campaign- Dr. Nduom Echoes
Ghana’s economy is still reeling from the collapse of several banks and financial institutions, including the GN Bank.
The Bank of Ghana revoked the licenses of 23 savings and loans companies, including the GN Bank, in 2019.
Despite the bank’s attempts to challenge the decision, an Accra High Court upheld the legality of the Central Bank’s decision.

However, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, the founder of GN Bank, has hinted at a nationwide tour to campaign for the return of the bank.
In a series of Facebook posts, Dr. Nduom has shared images and videos showing the current state of the bank’s assets, which are left to rot in some parts of the country.
Dr. Nduom has called for a nationwide tour to “tell our story directly to the people and let them be the judges on whether the People’s Bank should come back or not.”
He has also asked for volunteers to help clean up the surroundings of the bank’s locations and join his campaign for jobs and small business development.
The tour will visit all 300+ GN Bank locations across the country, with stops at Wulensi, Wa, Widana, Daman, Kwame Danso, Kyekyewere, Gwollu, Tsito, and other locations.
Dr. Nduom is seeking support from Ghanaians to help bring back the bank and restore jobs and small business development.
After sharing pictures of the bank’s abandoned assets in the Volta Region, Dr. Nduom expressed frustration about the long and difficult process of retrieving debts owed to contractors.
He noted that they had asked for joint management of assets, taken the request to court, and even sent petitions, but nothing had been done.
The situation is similar across the country, with a judge finally instructing them to pursue the Ministry of Finance to retrieve debts owed to contractors, a process that took four years.
Dr. Nduom questioned why it had to be so difficult, implying that it’s a common experience in Ghana.
The question is: will Ghanaians support Dr. Nduom’s efforts to bring back the GN Bank? Only time will tell.
