Covenant Presby School Dzorwulu marks 18th graduation, emphasizes holistic education

Accra, August 1, 2025 – Covenant Presby School in Dzorwulu, Accra, held its 18th Graduation and Awards Ceremony on Friday, celebrating 30 kindergarten graduates advancing to primary school and 21 Junior High School (JHS) students who completed their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The event, themed “Providing Holistic Education to Children the Hope for National Development,” highlighted academic excellence, extracurricular achievements, and the school’s commitment to shaping well-rounded citizens.
Madam Yvonne Oppong-Ayisi, Acting Head of Syndications and Capital Markets at Consolidated Banks Ghana, chaired the ceremony.
She emphasized the importance of curiosity and critical thinking, sharing a childhood anecdote about a teacher’s humorous response to her question about Friday homework.
“Asking good questions is just as important as giving good answers,” she said, urging graduates to become future leaders and thinkers. “You are already a success, and the nation is blessed to have you as its future.”
Headmistress Mrs. Evelyn Amoamah Antwi announced the school’s 2024 BECE results, boasting a 100% pass rate and 88% distinction, securing placements for graduates in top Senior High Schools.
She highlighted the success of 2024 graduate Master Frederick Lokko, who won the Literacy Challenge by Channel One TV and Citi FM and now studies science at St. Augustine’s College.
Mrs. Antwi encouraged parents to enrol children in the school’s Read to Grow literacy program, partnered with Girls Education Initiative Ghana (GEIG).
Guest speaker Madam Judith Amoateng Ennin, Director of Education for Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, described holistic education as fostering academic excellence, moral integrity, and social responsibility.
“Our children will drive innovation and build a just, inclusive society,” she said, commending parents and teachers as the “foundation” of student success.
The ceremony recognized academic and extracurricular achievements.
Yebowro Edudzi Yaw dominated JHS awards, earning top honors in Mathematics, Science, Career Technology, and Computing, and was named Overall Best Student 2025.

Other JHS awardees included Jeremy Oppong (Social Studies), Cedric Agboka (English Language), Obaa Yaa Acheampong (Ghanaian Language – Twi), Akosua Baah Asare (Religious and Moral Education), Messiah Akumia (French Language), and Yebowro Selikem (Creative Arts).
Departmental awards included Danquah Sarah Nhyira (JHS Basic 8), Mandor Komla Jnr Philip (JHS Basic 7), Rhule Justice Ayeyi (Upper Primary Basic 6), Nkrumah Kira Akesi (Basic 5), Asiedu-Farkye Prince Yeboah (Basic 4), Obeng Mildred Aseda Afriyie (Lower Primary Basic 3), Mubarak Iddris Ejora (Basic 2), Addabor Nana Adoma (Basic 1A), Offei Ohene Jennifer (Basic 1B), and Nuvlo Elikem (Preschool KG2).
Extracurricular awards went to Mister Brani Jenkins (Taekwondo, Basic 4) and Nsoh Ibrahim Najat (Cadet, Basic 7).
Staff recognition included Shadrach Osei Boateng (Best Teacher, JHS), Theresa Dede Tei (Primary), Abigail Ashalley (Preschool), John Essel Amoah (Extracurricular), and Solomon Tweneboah Prempeh (Best Administrative Staff).
Jacob Bright Owusu, Foster Asare, Nuetey Daniel, Samuel Opoku, and Patience Naoh were honored for their dedication.
In closing, Madam Oppong-Ayisi encouraged graduates to pursue dreams with courage and kindness, stating, “Success is about being kind, staying curious, and never giving up.”
The ceremony ended with student performances, reinforcing the school’s mission to nurture compassionate, resilient citizens.
Mrs. Antwi’s final words to graduates were, “Go out there and shine like the stars, lifting the flag of our dear school high.”
