Chelsea’s Midfielder, Kendry Paez Joins Strasbourg On Loan From Chelsea. This Is Going To Be A Season-long Loan.
Chelsea has announced that midfielder Kendry Páez has joined sister club Strasbourg on a season-long loan.
Blues fans have been waiting for Páez to make his European debut. The offensive midfielder agreed to a €20 million (£17.3 million, $23 million) move to Chelsea in 2023, although he was only free to make the move after turning 18 in May of this year. Chelsea has transferred Páez to Ligue 1 club Strasbourg for the 2025-26 season in order to further his development.
Páez joins Strasbourg on loan from Chelsea this summer, bringing the total to three, along with defender Mamadou Sarr and goalkeeper Mike Penders.
Strasbourg has also completed the permanent acquisition of Chelsea’s teenage defender Ishé Samuel-Smith. The highly rated 19-year-old, a natural left defender who can also play centrally, arrives for £6.5 million ($8.7 million).
Mathis Amougou made the permanent move to Strasbourg, which also features former Blue Diego Moreira, earlier this season, barely six months after joining Chelsea from Saint-Étienne.
The business between the two sides did not end there, as Filipe Coelho resigned his position as Chelsea Under-21 manager after only one season to become Liam Rosenior’s assistant manager at Strasbourg.
Last season, Chelsea found success by loaning players to Strasbourg. Andrey Santos had a stellar season, sparking pricey transfer rumors, but he is expected to stay with Enzo Maresca’s team this season.
Đorđe Petrović, a goalkeeper, joined Bournemouth, while Caleb Wiley, a left back from the United States, suffered injuries and spent the second half of the season on loan at Watford.
