Liverpool Set To Send Bid For Isak To Newcastle United
Liverpool set to send bid for Isak to Newcastle United after agreeing a deal Bayern Munich over Luis Diaz.
Newcastle United are apparently considering a significant shift in their strategy with the sale of Alexander Isak.
When Liverpool was connected with a £120 million ($161.1 million) bid for the Swedish attacker earlier this month, Newcastle’s reaction was widely said to be unequivocal: their star was not for sale.
The Reds duly took the hint and signed Hugo Ekitiké, who happened to be a top target for Newcastle. However, the landscape has evolved.
Isak apparently wants to go. What started as speculative rumors from his agency has escalated into a rumored contract extension rejection and a conspicuous preseason absence.
Eddie Howe revealed that Isak will not be joining the squad for the second leg of their Asian tour this week, blaming “a challenging transfer window”. It might become more complicated. Newcastle are “bracing” for an official bid for Isak from Liverpool, according to the Daily Mail.
The club is described as “split” about what the proper approach should be if and when this proposal is accepted: stick to their guns and reject any offers, or open themselves up to negotiations.

Liverpool’s fresh interest is understood to arise from the expected transfer of Luis Díaz to Bayern Munich, freeing up an additional £65 million ($87.2 million). According to ‘The Athletic’, Liverpool believes they have “sufficient left-sided cover” in the Colombian’s absence and would be free to pursue a move for Isak if Newcastle were willing to negotiate.
The Magpies are anticipated to want over £150 million ($201.3 million), shattering Liverpool’s British transfer record set just a month ago with the £116 million ($155.7 million) acquisition of Florian Wirtz. However, Arne Slot’s well-managed Premier League champions are considered to have the financial resources to break the nine-figure mark once more.
