Jerome Boateng charged a suspended fine; warning him over assault case

German Football Star Jerome Boateng Receives Suspended Fine for Intentional Bodily Harm
A regional court in Munich, Bavaria, has issued a warning to former international footballer Jerome Boateng for intentional bodily harm and charge him with a €200,000 suspended fine.
The German World Cup-winning soccer star was accused of violence against his ex-girlfriend, the mother of his 13-year-old twins, during a vacation in the Caribbean in 2018.
The case has been making headlines for years, with the presiding judge describing the relationship between Boateng and his ex-partner as “toxic”.
The proceedings have gone through multiple trials, with the latest verdict being a suspended fine of €200,000.
This means that if Boateng commits another offense, he will be required to pay the full amount.
The allegations of violence were made by Boateng’s ex-partner, who claimed that she was injured during a scuffle on the vacation.
Boateng denied the allegations, saying that it was a misunderstanding and that his ex-partner had fabricated the narrative of a wife-beater.
However, the court rejected his claims and found him guilty of domestic violence.
During the trial, a mutual acquaintance of Boateng and his ex-girlfriend testified that their relationship was emotionally charged and difficult, describing it as “miserable”.
The court also heard that Boateng had pushed his ex-girlfriend away to defend himself and that she had injured him on the lip.

This is not the first time Boateng has been in trouble with the law.
In September 2021, he was ordered to pay a €1.8 million fine after being found guilty of domestic violence.
However, he appealed the verdict and was later ordered to pay €1.2 million to his ex-partner in November 2022 after an appeal was overturned due to legal errors.
The long-time Bayern defender recently transferred from Italian club US Salernitana to Austrian side Linzer ASK.
