Black Stars Touch Down in Bamako, Ready to Take on Mali in Crucial 2026 World Cup Qualifier
The Ghana Black Stars have arrived in Bamako, Mali, ahead of Thursday’s highly-anticipated 2026 World Cup qualifying match against the hosts. The team, led by coach Otto Addo, touched down in the evening yesterday and has checked into their hotel, ready to take on the Malian national team.
The Black Stars, comprising all 26 invited players, will hold a mandatory pre-match training session on Wednesday at the 50,000-capacity Stade du 26 Mars, the venue for the match. With no injury concerns, defender Alexander Djiku has been cleared to play after a suspected injury delayed his arrival in the Ghana camp.
Arsenal star Thomas Partey will captain the team in the absence of Andre Ayew, who was not included in the squad. West Ham midfielder Mohammed Kudus and Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew are also among the team and will be hoping to make a positive impact on the pitch.

There a lot on the line for the Black Stars, who are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Comoros in their last away match in the qualifiers.
With three points from the games already played, Ghana’s qualification hopes depend heavily on the results from this match and their upcoming game against the Central African Republic in Kumasi on Monday, June 10.
The pressure is mounting on the team, who have struggled for form in 2024 with no wins, two defeats, and three draws. The Black Stars will need to dig deep and find a way to overcome their poor form if they are to secure a vital win against Mali.
The Black Stars hope in qualifying for 2026 world cup in USA, Mexico and Canada is heavily depend on these two upcoming games.
