1,500 Math Sets Donated to 75 JHS Schools by Nusé Foundation in Ho West
As the days draw near to the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the Nusé Foundation has stepped forward in a strong display of backing, donating over 1,500 mathematical sets to final-year students in 75 public and private junior high schools in the Kpedze area of the Ho West District Assembly.
The distribution started on June 2 and ended on June 8, 2025, making sure that every candidate in the beneficiary schools received a math set ahead of the exams. Mr. Eli Kojo Agbotse, Founder of the Nusé Foundation, stated that “This is just our way of giving back to the community that raised us. We are children of this district. We come from Ho West, and this initiative is about those of us who are now in a better position supporting the next generation.”
Mathematical sets are very important for students preparing for the BECE, especially in subjects like Mathematics and Integrated Science. These kits typically contain compasses, protractors, rulers, and other tools needed for geometry, measurement, and technical drawings resources that are typically unavailable for students in low-income communities.
Mr. Agbotse drew to attention that the personal investment supporting the cause, saying, “The major challenge is financial. Most of the funds come from a few dedicated members of the foundation. ‘Nusé’ means strength and that’s exactly what we’re giving these students: the strength to succeed.”
This year’s biggest distribution push is what the foundation has done, reaching over 1,500 students. Besides the educational aid, the Nusé Foundation also conducts community health assessment and other social interventions.
Valeria Bassie Sefekor Yawa, a final-year student at Kpedze Awlime B JHS, showed appreciation by saying: “This math set will really help us, especially with difficult parts of the exam like constructions.”Hakim Fuseini, another student, expressed his enthusiasm saying “With this, solving math questions will be easier. We’re hopeful and ready to do our best.” Local leaders also commended the gesture.
Hon. Adam Kasim Osman, Assembly Member for Kpedze Awlime, praised the foundation’s work and urged students to rise to the occasion: “This is a rare and commendable initiative. I urge the students to work hard, pass well, and make the community proud.”
Focusing on supporting vulnerable communities, the Nusé Foundation concentrates on student growth, healthcare, nutrition, and economic empowerment in Ho West District and beyond. Through grassroots engagement and self-funded programs, the organization seeks to alleviate economic hardship and open doors of opportunity Mr. Agbotse said “We’ve taken some of the burden off their shoulders so they can walk into the exam room with confidence. We wish them nothing but success they’ve got this.”
