Ghana earned US$4.8bn from international visitors and tourists in 2024- Ghana Tourism Authority

Ghana earned US$4.8 billion from international visitors and tourists who visited the country in 2024. The value corresponds to 27 percent increase from the $3.8 billion earned in 2023.
The details were noted in the 2024 Ghana Tourism report introduced by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). The funds was gotten from 1.2 million persons who visited the country in 2024. In 2023, 1.1 million individuals visited Ghana, indicating a 25 percent increase over the data collected by country in 2022.
Since 2019, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) regularly released the Annual Tourism Report. Using 2019 as the starting point, the 2024 report shows how the sector is progressing after data collected through interviews with inbound tourists at Kotoka International Airport (KIA), and surveys which took place at the various tourism enterprises in Accra and Takoradi in the course of the “December in Gh” (DiGH) festivities. The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) revealed that secondary data were probably obtain from the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), whose collaborative effort is recognized with gratitude.

From the 1.2 million international visitors, 137,000 came from America. 111,000 were from Nigeria. The United Kingdom place third with 52,000. The report indicated that this is the pattern in the top three. The report revealed that, 22.4 percent of the visitors were in Ghana last year in the course of business.
Visiting family and friends made up around 22.2 percent of the total visit for recreational purposes. The conference was held at as the 4th reason offered by visitors.
Again 1.1 million of the visitors made use of the Kotoka International Airport for their visits. Also, 77,000 individuals used the Aflao boarder and the remaining 53,000 visitors also came to Elubu which is in the third place.
