Bayana Bayana Secures 2-0 Win Over Black Queens in WAFCON Opener.

The Black Queens of Ghana began their Women’s AFCON campaign with a Group C opener against reigning WAFCON champions Bayana Bayana of South Africa, losing by 2 goals to nil.
The Black Queens made their return to the WAFCON after missing the last two editions of the tournament. The Black Queens struggled to find their rhythm against a well-organized South African team who are ranked second on the African continent.
The defending champions of the WAFCON, South Africa, had two goals in the first half, which they held on to recording their first win of the tournamnet, and also kept a clean sheet.
27-year-old Linda Mothalo had the first goal for Bafana Bafana after she calmly scored from the spot in the 28th minute. 32-year-old Jermaine Seoposenwe got the second and final goal for the South African side.
Head Coach of the Ghana Women’s National Team Kim Lars Bjorkegren made some tactical changes later in the second half, which saw his side dominate in the last 10 minutes of the game, hitting the woodwork twice.
The Black Queens of Ghana will later face Mali and Tanzania in Group C of the WAFCON tournament.
Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren will be looking forward to winning his remaining two games, as the top two teams in the group qualify for the next stage of the tournament.
