After the divisive re-election last month, Bolivian president Evo Morales has been forced by the  chaos in his country to resigned  as president of Bolivia.

The international observers called for an annulment of the election results on Sunday, arguing that “serious manipulations” were identified in the polls of 20 October.

Mr Morales agreed with the results and announced his decision to call fresh elections after the country’s electoral body had been revamped.


Nevertheless, lawmakers–and the military and police officials –advised him to give up.


Mr Morales said in a televised address: “I resign my post as president,” His vice president Alvaro Garcia Linera, also resigned from his post.


The Organization of American States (OAS), which tracked the vote, said in its initial report that it had discovered evidence of large-scale data manipulation and was unable to confirm the results of previous polls.

Despite the initial reaction of Mr Morales, tension has intensified on Sunday, with many of his political supporters stepping down. Those who had stepped down pointed to concerns for the safety of their families and love ones.
