WASSCE 2019 RESULTS OUT, 48,855 results withheld pending investigations
WAEC withholds results of 48, 855 candidates as 2019 WASSCE is released. This represents 45.86% increase in withheld results with the 2018 figure of 26,434 in mind. Thus all forms of examination malpractices contributed to the withholding of additions 22,421 results facing a likely cancellation.
The pending results according to WAEC are as a result of pending examination malpractices and investigations underway by the examining body.
The examination malpractices detected by WAEC were unraveled either during or after the conduct of the examination.
The Council, in a statement, said it will soon dispatch the results to the various schools and candidates can contact the heads of their schools for their results.
According to the examining body, the misconducts include sending foreign materials such as prepared notes, printed materials and mobile phones to the examination hall.
In June this year, WAEC released guidelines for WASSCE examiners as a strategy to fish out exams cheaters.
In the press release, WAEC indicated that the copy work of three (3) candidates leads to the cancellation of that particular subject. It further advised markers to take note of the grades.

The examining body also directed where the examiners or markers identified ten (10) candidates copied each other, the results of the entire school in which the candidates sat for the examination should be cancelled.
WAEC seems to have achieved its aims and purpose for the introduction of the guidelines after series of complains by examiners and the media of examination malpractices and examination leakages during the 2019 WASSCE.
Others anti-examination actions being investigated include collusion among candidates and planned cheating which occurred with the connivance of some supervisors and school authorities.
We hope those who helped the children to breach the rules as well as WAEC official found guilty are dealt with.
