Unknown assailants shoot, kill Chief and two others

Nana Meebo, the chief of the farming community of Borae Ahenfie, and two other people may have been killed by gunshots from unknown attackers in the Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region.
Borae Ahenfie is in the Krachi Nchumuru District.
About 14 people have been arrested in connection with the shooting, and they are helping the police with their investigations.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), who is also the Chairman of the District Security Committee (DISEC), Mr. Nkrumah Kwasi Ogyile, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and said that the attackers caught the chief and the two other people by surprise and shot them to death.
He said that the late chief had a fight with some people in the community over a piece of land and that he won the case in the Krachi West District Court.
Mr. Ogile said that the late chief later gave the court’s decision to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Charles Dorman, who was in charge of police in the Oti region. Dorman told the different groups to follow the court’s order.
The Chairman of the DISEC said that the late chief and two of his people were working on the land when they were attacked.
He said that the bodies of the dead people had been taken to the hospital’s morgue in the Krachi West District to be kept.
He said that security had been tightened and calm had been brought back.
