March 2020 Teacher Licensure Exams called off – NTC

March 2020 Teacher Licensure Exams called off by the National Teaching Council. This was contained in a press release in line with directives from the presidency and due to the current Coronavirus pandemic.
According to the National Teaching Council, the Teacher Licensure Exams will be rescheduled and the time and date conveyed to all stakeholders at the appropriate time.

What is the purpose of the Teacher Licensing Exams?
The National Teaching Council is mandated by the Education Act 2008 (Act 778), Section 9 to improve the professional standing and status of teachers and to ensure licensing and registration of teachers in Ghana.

The purpose of the Licensing Examination is to enable qualified teachers to acquire a professional license and also prepare teachers to meet the demands of the National Teachers’ Standards of possessing the minimum knowledge, skills, values and attitudes necessary to deliver effectively in schools.
What is the history of Teacher Licensure Exams in Ghana?
The licensure examination is designed and conducted by Ghana National Teaching Council (NTC). The first licensure examination took place on September 10-12, 2018 and it covered essential teaching skills, numeracy (basic calculation) and literacy (verbal aptitude and essay writing)
